Between Vancouver Island and Shear Water there is a chance you will get stuck or have to wait out the weather for a few hours. I have not had to spent the night but I did wait at Dawson’s Landing for four hours one day. Dawson’s has a 200 foot protected dock, a good general store and rooms. The rooms are high priced and set up for fishermen who are doing their own cooking. There is no restaurant but you will not starve with the store being there. Their phone number is 604 629 9897. 

The other place to stop in bad weather is Duncanby’s Landing phone number   1877 846 6548 or 1604 468 6874. I have not been here for 10 years, It is now a major fishing resort, would call to insure they are OK with float planes.
