Martin Lake Cabin

Great new cabin built in 2010.

Cabin was damaged by snow load in 2012, the current plan is to have it back in service by summer of 2016.

This cabin replaced the old one which was a 100 feet away. The pictures on the Forest Service site and the recreation.gov site both show the old cabin as of January 2012. We stayed in the cabin in August of 2011 expecting the old cabin and walked into one of the most beautiful cabins in the system. The cabin is stunning and the views are better. This is one of the cabins you go to for the beauty of Alaska. If you are going up the coast and only have time for one cabin this is the one you want to go to.  The water was low when we were there and the best tie was at the mouth of the stream. When the water is a little higher tie up right next to the trail to the cabin. The grass going to the plane is deep and the visibility is poor, I came ten feet from stepping on a black bear, we took off in opposite directions at about the same speed. If you make a reservation do not confuse it with Marten lake near Wrangle.

Wood and oil Stove.

View out the back.

Lake was low when I was there in 2011, tied up by mouth of stream.
