Black Bear Lake Cabin

Black Bear Lake is one of the most scenic in Alaska. The lake is 1700 feet above sea level. All lakes at high elevation have the problem of low clouds which can trap you. The cabin is a standard cabin with a nice front porch. I visited this cabin on July 1 of 2012 and there was still a lot of snow at the cabin. Except for a few chunks of ice on the lake it was clear and easy to land at. On the same day I went to Josephine Lake which is at 1900 feet above sea level and it was completely iced in. This cabin was repaired later in 2012 and is in fair shape. The beauty of this location is worth the slightly less than perfect cabin. The cabin will be open in 2015.
